What is Rescue Dog Reunion?
A fun day to celebrate the canine addition to your family! Every year, we invite all the families who have adopted their dog(s) from Cape Ann Animal Aid to join us for a fun-filled canine family reunion. These dogs and their new families get to spend an exciting day at Stage Fort Park here in Gloucester! Cat adopters are also welcome to attend the event but must leave their cat(s) at home and bring photos to share instead!

Rescue Reunion is a day filled with joyful reunions, cool canine games, fabulous photo sessions, doggy advice, and activities for the kids and their canine pals. Enter raffles to win some great stuff for yourself or your pets, get your pooch a pedicure, indulge in some yummy snacks and beverages, and try out the dog agility yard at The Gloucester Dog park right across the road!

If you have adopted your dog then this is one fun day you don’t want to miss! It's the chance to reunite with dedicated Cape Ann Animal Aid staff, volunteers and rescue partners who are eager to hear how your adopted pooch has been doing and to see how much they have changed since joining your family!

Our rescue partners in other parts of the country plan for this event all year. They really, really look forward to getting a chance to meet the families who have adopted their foster and rescued fur babies! Rescue partners from groups that work in Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Puerto Rico and Turks and Caicos will be at the reunion, eager to meet adopters and see how happy their rescues are in their new homes. The Rescue Reunion also offers the chance to find out more about how out-of-state animal rescue works, how the actual rescuers and fosters families do the work they do, meet some of your adopted pups littermates, and make new friends!

Where is the Rescue Dog Reunion?
The Rescue Reunion is held at beautiful Stage Fort Park in Gloucester, MA. This year, the Reunion will be held within Stage Fort Park with some games and activities taking place within the grounds of the Gloucester Dog Park.

What if the weather is bad?
We're hoping for great weather but recommend that you bring a jacket incase the weather takes a turn, New England style! Because our rescuers are traveling to Gloucester specifically for the reunion, there is no rain date scheduled. We plan to go ahead with the reunion, rain or shine!

What else should I see while in Gloucester?
If you aren't familiar with Gloucester and greater Cape Ann, we recommend you check out Cape Ann Vacations for more information about places to see, stay, visit, and eat.

Will there be food at the Rescue Reunion?
We'll have some great local food vendors who will have all sorts of scrumptious food available for sale. You can feel good and fill your belly knowing a portion goes to help rescue dogs! Plus Stage Fort Park is a beautiful place for a picnic! The park also has a great playground for kids and walking paths along the ocean.

What should I bring?

  • Your friendly, vaccinated dog(s) on a leash or harness (Rabies tag on their collar preferred).
  • Doggy waste bags to clean up after your dog.
  • Your camera--to capture memorable moments.
  • Some extra spending money! We'll have raffles and fun activities at the event for a nominal fee. Funds raised will benefit Cape Ann Animal Aid's Safe Harbor Fund, providing support for animal transportation programs.

Where should I park?
The city maintains a lot at Stage Fort Park close to the reunion location. There is a $15 fee to park in this lot. Local residents with a Gloucester beach parking sticker do not have to pay an additional parking fee. You may pre-pay to park when you register online or opt to pay on the day of. More parking is available a short walk from the park along Stacey Blvd (right along the water). These spots are time limited or metered spots.
